During
construction of an instrument I have a picture in my mind of how I want
the instrument to look once its finished...
Many of you ask where I get the wood from? The selection process? Most of my instruments are made that I've carefully selected from Puerto Rico. I do have instruments that I've made with Rosewood, mahogany and Curly maple. Woods not known to originate from Puerto Rico. After careful selection of the wood, I mill it, and stiker it. The stickering process allows for air to circulate in between the layers of wood for faster drying and curing. My typical waiting time to use wood from Puerto Rico is a minimum of 2 yrs in my local environment. The wood has been carefully selected, dried and cured to adapt its use anywhere in the US, Puerto Rico or Europe.
This lends itself to an instrument that its materials of construction
would handle favorably the drier conditions experienced in any part of
the United States during the winter months and would handle favorably
conditions experienced in Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and Europe.
Each instrument is built individually and carefully, no rush. All my heart and care goes into the construction of these instruments. Once finished, you would be able to enjoy for many years a beautiful instrument made especially for you.
